I have been practicing law for more than 20 years. I offer legal services in a number of areas, including disability and special education law, and estate planning. I was formerly the Director of the Institute for Community Inclusion, an international research institute focused on disability policy and practice, at the University of Massachusetts. I served in the Massachusetts legislature for 12 years where I authored a number of groundbreaking laws that empower people with disabilities. I am the father of an adult son with Down syndrome. I have degrees from the College of the Holy Cross, Suffolk University Law School, Harvard University, and a PhD from Brandeis University. My dissertation was entitled: The Effect of Postsecondary Education on Employment for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities.
